The experience of providing branding consultancy for good brands on a donation-based system.
Well, call it utopia but hey, why not?
Since The Good Branding started, it was very important to use branding, usually a very expensive tool, to help good brands thrive. To make that a reality, I have created a system where the brand or business that need my help, could pitch the value they are able to invest. My aim is that even the smallest good brand could get help.
It is beautiful to watch small businesses or professionals embark on a new adventure, leaving the guarantee of a steady job behind and starting their own good business, providing services or products to improve life and the planet. Innovative brands like a menstrual cup, therapeutical technology for Alzheimer or adding microgreens to your diet are the kind of things The Good Branding is all about.
The donation-based system made it possible for these brands to find the right advice before they were financially stable, meaning, they got help when help was most needed.
The donation-based system was also an experiment of mine.
I wanted to invert the relationship between the service provider and the client. Invert the "power" scheme of the contractor and contractee. Why? Because I wanted the relationship to be based on gratitude. This is not the normal consultancy way. I wanted to not only provide services to good brands but also invite all of us to a "good" system, where money is secondary.
This led me to very interesting brands and people. Generosity and gratefulness were the key points of this relationship. Some brands pay more, some less, but the feeling of the money transaction was for both parties, of feeling lucky to be able to share the wealth and the belief of a better world.
This experiment was me trying to get myself and my clients into the idea that new systems are possible, social, or financial, the world is there for us to try new ways. Since all my clients are hopeful and enthusiastic about life and the future, I felt this was the right crowd to try better systems.
May we all find ourselves dreaming and believing in new ways of living. But most of all, may we all make this dream happen. There are no guarantees, there never was, and never will be, so let us all look at that with the eyes of opportunity and love. Because the money game does not have to be of scarcity and fear, but gratitude and joy.
